Vocational Training at WASIL

“Aid Others, Feel Abundant.”

At the heart of WASIL's mission lies a simple truth — empowered women build empowered communities. Through Vocational Training, WASIL equips rural women with practical skills, economic independence, and confidence to support their families and uplift their communities.

This initiative operates through the Zainab Handicraft School (ZHS) and its sister venture WASIL Handicrafts, combining education, production, and entrepreneurship under one umbrella.

Vision & Purpose

Vision for Tomorrow

Through its Vocational Training programs, WASIL envisions a network of empowered women and youth who transform their lives through skill, creativity, and enterprise.

The Vocational Training Program was founded on the belief that empowerment is the most sustainable form of charity. Rather than providing temporary relief, WASIL invests in skills that last a lifetime.

By teaching practical skills and creating real opportunities, ZHS and WASIL Handicrafts turn compassion into economic empowerment — proving that kindness is most powerful when it sustains itself.

Kindness is most powerful when it sustains itself.

Our Initiatives

Design & Structure

The vocational arm of WASIL is structured around two complementary initiatives, ensuring that every learner has a pathway from education to employment.

Zainab Handicraft School (ZHS)

Training and Skill Development Center

  • Affiliated with the Punjab Skill Development Authority (PSDA).
  • Offers a Basic Vocational Training Course, including developed lesson plans and online training material.
  • Curriculum emphasizes apparel designing and sewing, with room to grow into related skills.
  • Collaborative teaching model — shared resources and Zoom classes with partner institutes.
  • Trains women in practical skills so they can contribute to household income and livelihoods.

WASIL Handicrafts

Production & Empowerment Enterprise

  • An apparel designing and production initiative developed as part of WASIL’s plan for sustained income.
  • Includes a design and production center (Islamabad campus).
  • Dedicated to designing and producing apparel and related items.
  • Built with an emphasis on sustainability and scalability — designed to generate income that fuels future WASIL projects.
  • Architectural plan and costing prepared for a purpose-built facility at I-18 Islamabad, with phased construction planned from 2026–2027.
In Practice

Zainab Handicraft in Focus

Zainab Handicraft showcases how the vocational framework at WASIL functions in practice. It represents the point where structured training at the Zainab Handicraft School (ZHS) transitions into real production, allowing women to apply their skills in a purposeful and income-generating environment.

Learners who begin with the Basic Vocational Training Course at ZHS move into a setting where their stitching, designing, and finishing abilities are refined through hands-on work. This progression strengthens confidence, builds technical discipline, and helps women understand what it means to contribute meaningfully to household income and community wellbeing.

The Complete Pathway:

It brings the mission of sustainable uplift into a tangible, everyday form — demonstrating how skills taught in the classroom become a foundation for dignity, financial stability, and long-term opportunity.
